Food Box

The Lamb County Food Box, which was organized in the early 1980s, and was funded by Lamb County and various individuals and organizations through food drives and private donations, has been discontinued locally. The South Plains Food Bank (SPFB) has recently taken over the food distribution in Lamb County cities that participate.

First Baptist Church of Littlefield is now administrating the food box. Grocery stores donate food on a regular basis, individuals and groups provide food and money, which is turned over to the South Plains Food Bank.

Certification of Recipients

A new regulation demands that recipients of the food need to be certified through the South Plains Food Bank of Lubbock. Representatives from the SPFB and members of the Assembly of God Church on Phelps Avenue, next to AimBank, certify the recipients, and present them with a card.

Required Documents

To qualify, applicants must provide Social Security cards for all members of the household, and provide proof of residence, in order to receive the card.

Getting Food

When the truck comes to Littlefield on the second Wednesday of the month, recipients line up in their vehicles on the parking lot of Wildcat Stadium, where the card is presented, in order to receive the pre-boxed food.
